The deadliest tornado in Alabama's history was the 1835 Coosa Valley tornado. This tornado killed at least 49 people and injured hundreds more. The tornado was so powerful that it leveled entire towns and uprooted trees. One eyewitness described the tornado as "a black cloud, as large as a mountain, whirling and twisting in the air."

Another deadly tornado in Alabama's history was the 1932 Scottsboro tornado. This tornado killed 37 people and injured more than 100. The tornado was part of a larger outbreak of tornadoes that struck the southeastern United States that day. The Scottsboro tornado was so powerful that it destroyed much of the town's business district.

One of the most recent deadly tornadoes in Alabama's history was the 2011 Tuscaloosa-Birmingham tornado. This tornado killed 64 people and injured more than 1,000. The tornado was part of a larger outbreak of tornadoes that struck the southeastern United States that day. The Tuscaloosa-Birmingham tornado was so powerful that it caused widespread damage and destruction.

Tornadoes are a powerful and dangerous force of nature. They can cause widespread destruction and loss of life. It is important to be aware of the risks of tornadoes and to take precautions to stay safe.

Here are some tips for staying safe during a tornado:

  • Seek shelter in a sturdy building.
  • Go to the lowest level of the building and stay away from windows.
  • If you are outside, lie down in a ditch or other low-lying area and cover your head with your hands.
  • Stay tuned to local weather forecasts and warnings.
  • Be prepared to evacuate if necessary.

Tornadoes can be deadly, but by taking precautions, you can help to stay safe.
